Dear Sir,
READING Jason Moore's “Viewpoint” in last Sunday/Monday's Bulletin, I was rather surprised by the way in which he focusses the visit of the U.S. Navy carrier Theodor Roosevelt to Palma's harbour. He even said that it caused a real buzz in Majorca, I don't think so. I have not yet seen any milling throng of excited visitors waving American flags, nor awaiting to have a close-up look at the vessel standing to go aboard. What I really saw was a quite few people uttering all sorts of protests against the presence of the carrier from the promenade of Palma's port trying to raise awarness about this kind of vessel. They are indeed a really floating danger, carrying a nuclear plant. As a Majorcan citizen, I am not satisfied at all with the arrival of these monsters to our small, peaceful island. Where did the ship set sail for? Maybe toward Iraq in search of Weapons of Mass Destruction? Or maybe it is heading toward Iran which now is targeted by the Bush Government?.
