THIS coming weekend, the Balearic Foundation against Domestic Violence in conjunction with the furniture company Group Fer, is to launch a campaign in the Balearic media to raise public awareness about domestic violence being a danger not just to its victims, but also to society at large which should refuse to tolerate it. Under the theme The enemy lives not just with her but with all of us, the campaign aims to urge first-hand sufferers and those who have evidence of continued aggression to legally denounce the perpetrators of the violence. Grup Fer is to provide funding for the publicity to the tune of 60'000 euros and will provide another 30'000 as a direct cash donation to the Foundation. During the presentation of the campaign yesterday, regional minister for the President's Office and Sports, Rosa Puig, said that the key objective of the Foundation, set up in 2004 as a non-profit making organisation, is to involve the whole of society and public administration in fighting the spectre of domestic violence. Grup Fer's president, Fausto Ferrero, said that although his contribution to the Foundation had been in cash terms, he wanted to help bring the message closer to home.
