By Jason Moore CAN voters trust the Tories again? Well after yesterday´s speech by David Cameron I think so. Cameron´s speech yesterday was not aimed at the party faithful it was focused clearly at those who are still undecided who they will be voting for. It was a speech full of compassion focusing on the poor rather than the wealthy, on the National Health Service rather than the private sector and on the need to keep taxes high for the high earners. This is how much the Conservative Party has changed under Cameron and this is probably one of the reasons why he will become the next Prime Minister. A polished performance from a man who admits that he is not a great platform speaker. There was not much cheer in the speech because Britain is in severe financial trouble; there is no short-term fix for the debt mountain and as the Tory leader said, there are some difficult times ahead. I think everyone apart from Mr Brown and Mr. Darling realise that: they talk of recovery but not the cost. So yes I think Cameron has done enough to convince the British electorate that he can be Prime Minister. He is lucky that his opponents are in such a mess but as Neil Kinnock learnt the Conservatives can´t afford to be complacent. There is still a long way to go.
