“Majorca was painfully costly”

SO much is written about Spain being ridiculously expensive.
Having just done five days in Majorca then two weeks in mainland Spain it was only Majorca that was painfully costly.
Anywhere with mainly Spanish tourists was almost free in comparison! Why, why, why?
