F OR the Swiss People's Party (SVP) which is expected to win today's general election and hold a referendum calling for withdrawal of freedom of travel arrangements with the European Union. Although Switzerland is not a member of the EU it has had complementary cross-border transit and employment for more than ten years. The SVP has conducted a strong campaign with a poster showing black boots trampling on the Swiss flag with the words, “That's enough. Stop mass immigration.”
