MAJORCA has something for everyone. From the party resorts of Arenal and Magalluf to the family resorts of Pollensa, Alcudia and Calas de Mallorca. Everything under the sun. But unfortunately Magalluf is rather upsetting the Majorcan apple cart. British tour operators are concerned that Magalluf could tarnish Majorca´s image and tourists could go elsewhere. Five people died in Magalluf last Summer and there were countless injuries as well. The police carried out numerous raids and made a large number of arrests. The stabbing of six people in Magalluf last week made headlines news in the British newspaper s yesterday. Something has to be done about Magalluf. I know for a fact that the Calvia council is planning to introduce yet another “get tough campaign” in the resort next Summer. Perhaps, it would be a good idea for the business community to sit down with the Calvia council and the police to discuss exactly what is needed. At a time when Majorca is facing stiff competition from other holiday destinations we can´t have would-be holiday bookers being scared away because of Magalluf. I don´t think there is any quick fix. Calvia council simply can´t afford to flood the resort with police. I think that everyone involved in Magalluf should play a role in ridding the resort of its ills. The business community has to play their part as well. Let us sort out Magalluf once and for all before it is too late and tourists go elsewhere.
Magalluf again
