According to Wednesday's Daily Bulletin next year our tourist business from the UK will be adversely affected by environmental matters, airport duty, airport queues and security congestion not to mention a falling exchange rate. Fortunately we do not need to worry about the 2% increase in Spanish VAT which will not have a negative effect on tourism.
Says who? Why the source of all knowledge the Government no less.
I like to test any dubious political statement by standing it on its head. So will the 2% increase in VAT increase tourism? Obviously yes for if the affect will not be negative it must be positive. If a 2% increase brings improvements the Government should increase it and get even more benefits. Why stop at 2% let's double it to 4% or let's really hit it with a 50% increase from the current, niggardly 16% to 24% and reap all the benefits the Government (but not me) obviously sees.
