...this week can only be for Prince William and Kate Middleton for the wholly favourable impression they made in their appearances together to announce their engagement. The fact that Miss Middleton's great-grandfather was a miner in Durham coal pits owned by the family of the late Queen Mother added a fascinating insight into the way that British society has changed in a few generations. But after a great start she will need a lot of luck and strength to survive the media pressure that is already building up.
