THE Rugby Football Union is at rock bottom said Rob Andrew, the RFU's director of elite rugby and it is time he too holds his hands up and quits - even though he said he has no intention of doing so.
As further revelations have uncovered that the RFU tried to make three players pay off a chambermaid for allegedly sexist comments which they were later cleared of , Andrew can no longer continue in his post.
The players, Martin Johnson and members of his coaching team have paid the price for the shambolic performance on and off the pitch during the World Cup but Rob Andrew must have been in New Zealand as well.
Surely he knew exactly what was going on, so why did he not step in and install some order in the camp during the tournament - that must be part of his job description.
Some senior members of the side, Jonny Wilkinson in particular, did consider trying to give the players a talking to, but he decided against it. Apparently, he has admitted in his updated autobiography, he realised it would have been a waste of time.
But it should not have been Wilkinson's job, it should have been firstly the coach's, although many of the players were his former team mates, which would have made it difficult to have exerted some serious discipline, so where was Rob Andrew when England needed him. No where, it appears, so do us England rugby fans a favour and go.
