A united front

FORGET Gibraltar, Britain and Spain appear to have bigger fish to fry. According to the Spanish media yesterday David Cameron and Mariano Rajoy have struck a deal on how to deal with the prospect of Scotland and Catalonia voting for independence. Rajoy said this week that an independent Scotland would have to wait to join the  European Union and Spain could even veto its membership. According to Spanish newspapers, Cameron has agreed to return the favour over Catalonia. It clearly shows that the relationship between Spain and Britain is good and the fact that Rajoy and Cameron didn´t discuss the issue of  Gibraltar at tehir meeting at a European Union summit shows that both country are not that concerned over Europe. It is rather ironic that the working partnership between  Rajoy and Cameron may make voters in Scotland and Catalonia have second thoughts. Rajoy has obviously done the “No” vote campaign in Scotland a very big favour.
