WE should thank the BBC. Not for changing the satellite which means that we now get a weaker signal but for giving Majorca and Magalluf some great publicity. On Eastenders a few months ago one character had just returned from a holiday in Magalluf. I didn´t have the heart to inform the BBCor the Eastenders scriptwriters that at the time there were no hotels, few bars and even fewer restaurants open in Magalluf. And on Holby City again this week another character had also just returned from a Magalluf holiday. Now, these are top BBCprogrammes watched by millions of people, so thank you BBCfor keeping Majorca on the map. Perhaps next time we will have someone from the Antiques Roadshow who has just come back from Puerto Pollensa or people on Cash In The Attic who are selling their antiques for a holiday in Alcudia or Palmanova! You see promoting Majorca as a holiday destination is not rocket science, infact it is quite simple, unfortunately, sometimes Idoubt that the local ministry for tourism realise this fact. You don´t need to spend millions on massive advertising campaigns just make sure that Eastenders keeps you in the script. The Balearic government could provide free holidays in the sun to giveaway on top TVquiz programmes and other popular shows. The holiday would cost them nothing but the publicity for the island would be enormous. So thank you BBC at least you are promoting our beloved island!
Editorial: Thank you BBC
