Dear Sir,
Donald Trelford remarked in Thursday’s Daily B that the Royal Bank of Scotland’s fines are in effect paid by the public thus reducing money for schools and hospitals.
By Saturday the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Ed Balls (Labour) had answered his critique by assuring that fines from RBS and other bankers will be used for the wider good in the NHS treating cancer, reduce waiting lists by aiding GPs and helping out A&E by reversing losses in nursing staff (Sunday’s Daily B).
Meanwhile on TV Home Secretary Theresa May (Conservative) reported that she is to loosen the laws on Internet Privacy to aid the police and secret service in the capture of terrorists and paedophiles.
This will be exclusively to these crimes and no one else need worry as they will not be affected.
Sunday’s Viewpoint also reports on our Spanish leaders’ promises for next year. I’m sure it was an oversight they didn’t specify getting the baddies (banks, terrorists and paedophiles) and rewarding the goodies (GPs, nurses and police) but all will come up roses by more tourists, less tax and extra growth in the economy or did I detect some cynicism in between Jason Moore’s lines – something about up-coming elections?
He has nothing to worry about, transgressors will be punished and the weak will inherit the earth our betters have told us Plebs so, so it will be so.
