Dear Sir,
On Monday 11 May, I took a bus from Cala D’or to Palma. I hired a bike from the Mall, near the bus station, and cycled on my own, along the front. I am 68 years of age! Around 2p.m my world went blank. I must have passed out and smashed my head, and my ribs. I woke up around 5p.m in a hospital, with no clothes. My brother who does not speak English, and lives near Felanitx, was informed, and was brought to my bedside.
He had been called on my phone, by “An English chap.... Bill or Ben!” I was in the ambulance, and he had found my “emergency contact” details in my wallet....along with all my money and credit cards. I have no recollection of anything else, from the day. I would like to say via your newspaper.....a big THANK YOU to the guy that called my brother,( I cannot contact him.....he called on my phone!!!) the police (who I believe were there...and hopefully returned the bike!!?) the ambulance staff and of course all the folk in the hospital. Final note.........not one cent, not a single thing, was missing from all my stuff. That speaks volumes about the people of the island of Majorca.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
Cliff Morley
PS. REMINDER TO ALL TRAVELLERS....Please remember to carry contact details 24/7!!
