Letters to the Editor

Dear Sir,
I fully agree with Tom Leeming’s proposal that the Balearics should own and operate their own airline, that is as long as certain people can keep their paws out of the kitty.
Not mentioned anywhere (as far as I have noticed), as an example, is that the “Bailiwick of Guernsey” successfully operate their own airline: “Aurigny.” Aurigny originally was an inter-island service but, after Guernsey was let down on numerous occasions by UK airlines, it was expanded to meet the island’s needs reliably. Aurigny services an island population of about seventy thousand residents and a tourist/business market.

Anyone wanting a brilliant experience in Majorca or Mallorca ( which is correct ? ) Take a look at Porto Colom one of the most beautiful places I have visited. Brilliant harbour, lovely beaches and superb restaurants but if you want bars and straw donkeys stay well clear because its up market, unspoilt and not in the least bit expensive.
