Wednesday’s MDB reports that the Balearic regional government wants management, planning and decision-making of the three island airports.
I hope not. These are from the same team that gave us the fiascos over the Soller Tunnel and the Marratxi Crematiorium.
Currently, they have been deliberating for about the last five years over the future of the GESA building in Palma and even longer over my local ex-tennis club (in Las Maravillas) which has been vacant, squatted in and deteriorating since 2002.
They have, however, made up their minds (or rather changed them) to close down the Palma Springs Shopping Mall and are refusing to use the Son Reus incinerator for imported waste.
Contrary to what the government thinks, I believe the compensation they will have to pay for broken contracts will run into a few million exactly like the reputed 16 million outstanding over the Palacio de Congresos shambles.
