Dear Sir,
I always enjoy reading your articles but I was amazed to see you were again complaining about the cost of dining in Majorca compared with the UK. Are you being serious?
I live on the West coast of Scotland in the summer but I am fortunate to be able to spend the winter months here. Should we wish to enjoy Sunday lunch in a restaurant, here, in the north of the island, we have quite a few choices where we can enjoy a pleasant three course meal with a bottle of wine, bread, olives etc. in convivial surroundings often rounded off with a free liquor. This can cost between €22 and € 30.
In my local Scottish village, it is difficult to purchase a bottle of house wine for less than € 20 before you have anything to eat! I have never met a visitor to the island who has not been amazed by the quality and good value of restaurant meals compared to the UK.
Hasta luego,
Peter Bannatyne
