Hardly any taxis ever use their indicators and with the amount of traffic islands / roundabouts there are, it would be a great help, especially as I do some cycling and so do many others. So it would be nice to know what some of these cars intend to do at roundabouts or at junctions and considering the taxis are a public service, the safety of passengers and other road users should be a high priority. But most drivers do not have any courtesy, to the point that they would rather have an accident than let anyone out at a junction.
I would be really pleased if you could maybe put an article in the newspaper mentioning how disappointing it is at the lack of importance in relation to these issues and lack of courtesy that is shown when driving in Majorca. I am sure the indicating issue over the years must have caused many unnecessary accidents .
I would also ask that perhaps the taxi companies that exist only by the tourism industry, that they would have a system that if five people need a taxi when you order a taxi there is an option to ask for a vehicle that can take 5 passengers and the driver.
I know there are some of those vehicles on the island, but it would be nice and certainly helpful for the tourist if when ordering a taxi that would be an option. Perhaps the taxi companies might like to respond to this article.
Also I use Calvia Taxis regularly, and when you book a taxi, there is no option for anything apart from giving people an address. The majority of the operators do not speak good English, considering the many millions of English tourists that come to the island and it would be nice if at least the operators ask people a little bit more about their journey requirements. For example, if someone needed a larger than normal car as obviously some people have children and therefore have to split themselves into two taxis.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
David Myers
