Full marks to the new Calvia council who are working long and hard to promote the municipality as an all-year-round holiday destination with special emphasis on the new-look Magalluf. Calvia are putting together a major plan to promote Magalluf in Britain, including a presentation to the British travel trade before the World Travel Market (WTM) tourism fair. In other words, they are spreading the word about all the investment which is being made (or has been made) in Magalluf. For WTM, Calvia will also have a stand and will be playing a key role in the presentation of the new-look Magalluf which the Melia Group is planning at one of their London hotels. I said earlier this week in this space that the local authorities needed to tell the world of all the investment which has been made in Magalluf, and Calvia are certainly doing it. The Melia Group, which is investing an estimated 100 million euros on their hotels in the resort, will also be leading the charge in London by underlining the fact that Magalluf is changing and changing for the better. I think everyone agreed after last summer that something needed to be done about Magalluf. The new civic behaviour guidelines, the extra police and all the investment is transforming the resort and soon it will be in the headlines for all the right reasons. Years ago when the local authorities headed for London they would dread questions about Magalluf. This year they will welcome them.

New Look Magaluf, don't make me laugh. You cannot get rid of a reputation by building a few flashy hotels. I know a few groups that would like a all year season. The mugging prostitutes, the drug selling Lookey men and the rip of fruit/drink sellers on the beach. So will they welcome the question about what is being done about the above!!
