Christmas is great in Majorca and I don’t understand why so many people are returning to the United Kingdom. Granted, the festive people could be even more special on the island but there is so much happening and I think the best place to be over the festive period is Majorca. Everyone I speak to is planning to return to Britain for Christmas, it's almost like a small exodus. I sincerely hope that the airlines are taking note and they clearly see that there is demand for winter flights! Palma looks absolutely fantastic for Christmas. There is plenty of festive cheer and the Christmas lights look great. Last weekend I was at the Puerto Portals Christmas market and it looks fantastic and it will be open throughout the festive period. It is a great pity that more hotels are not open over the festive period. As I mentioned in this space earlier in the year, one British association had a nightmare time trying to find a hotel which was open so that they could celebrate the festive period. A decade ago many island hotels would stay open for Christmas and quite a sizeable number of tourists would come to the island for the festive season. Unfortunately, things have now gone full circle with more people returning to Britain for Christmas than coming to the island. One of the advantages is that the festive season on the island lasts from early next week to well into the New Year. It is a party that lasts for three weeks. Shame more people don’t enjoy it!
