The status of thousands of British workers in Spain is unclear because the British government is still not giving any assurances about the future of non-British European Union workers in Britain. This is a scandalous state of affairs and as I said in this space before the referendum the people which the pull-out will hit the most are expat Britons living in Spain.

Mike: I agree with you 100% regarding the use of the word 'expat' and I have said so several times myself. I nearly mentioned it again in the comment I posted yesterday but in the end I desisted as it seems to be a wasted effort.
I live and work here on Mallorca and have done for many years. I am an immigrant. Stop referring to the likes of me as an ex-pat.It is condescending, patronising, and derives only from those with a Little Englander attitude which, clearly, are views you concur with.
I meant "British nationality" not "UK nationality"!
They can't give any assurances because they are all running around like headless chickens with no clue what to do. Those readers who qualify for Spanish nationality after ten years residence but are reluctant to apply because they don't want to have to give up their British nationality may be interested in signing this petition for Spain to grant dual nationality in the same way that Spanish citizens in the UK can be granted UK nationality without having to renouce their Spanish nationality. Obviously passing the DELE level A2 and CCSE tests would still apply.https://www.change.org/p/gobierno-de-españa-doble-nacionalidad-para-británicos-con-mas-de-diez-años-de-residencia-en-españa
