It does sound quite amazing that hoteliers are thinking of raising their prices by 15 to 20 per cent for next summer when there is so much uncertainty around Europe. It must be remembered that we must add the additional cost of the tourist tax so a holiday to Majorca just became rather costly. Local hoteliers obviously know what they are doing: after all they are the powerhouse of the local tourist industry. But I believe that on this occasion they could be mistaken. The British market is of vital importance to Majorca but it has been hit by the fall in the value of the pound. British families will be looking for a holiday destination which offers great value for money because they will be on an even tighter budget. It also must be remembered that this holiday season was rather different than usual because of the security concerns over North Africa and to a lesser extent Turkey.
Cost is king

Let the market decide. If the customer doesn't perceive value or a welcome, the greedy will see their income drop.
Good. Island saturated already, greedy hoteliers know no limits. Enough is enough. We need less tourists (especially less Brits who spend less and cause the most trouble) and better plans /less tax for local businesses, and more help for the unemployed and needy from local government. Otherwise this island is going to implode. Salvem Mallorca...as the locals say. They would rather be poorer than see the island ruined. So, MDB line wrong per usual.
My god. Firstly I've just agreed with Wolfgang. But now I'm doing the opposite and agreeing with Jason. After 20 years of visiting the most beautiful island in the world were thinking of a change. The cost for a normal working class family is outrageous. Plus the tourist tax. All this will do is push more people off the island or into AI. Both disastrous to the local businesses. I feel for my friends in Alcudia.
