Better late than never! The decision to link Palma airport with the main resorts via a public bus service is an excellent idea but I would like to know why it has taken so long. Ok, you could say that this service already existed: airport shuttle service to the Plaza España then you catch another bus to your resort. But this is direct from the airport, so it is obviously a step in the right direction especially for those tourists who are independent travellers who do not come with a tour firm.

The taxi drivers have strongholds in other resorts on the island. There is a bus runs from Can Picafort to Puerto Pollenca every 10 minutes or so in the summer, right up until about 8.30 pm. But from then onwards the bus terminates at Alcudia, meaning poor old Puerto Pollenca residents if they want a night in Alcudia or its port are forced to taxi back, despite there being buses running in the opposite direction still back to Can Picafort. I am sure this is only due to taxi driver pressure. Even if the buses ran every 30 minutes back to Puerto Pollenca up til the end of service at 23.00 it would be an improvement.
Having been ripped off by a taxi driver. Charging €25.00 from the Airport to Plaza Espana in the evening. I am delighted that there will be more choice of direct, to and from, the main resorts. If I ever use an Airport Taxi again, I will get a receipt, and take action against the Driver. Companies like " Hoppa " etc., will have to improve their services, and not keep Tourists waiting an hour or more for a Coach. That then visits many Hotels en route, to eventually getting to your booked Hotel.
Plenty of work for taxi drivers if they sorted out petty rivalry and concentrated instead on a more efficient way to match customer requirements to quicker taxi response. Win-win instead of moan-moan. Sitting around half your working life in hope of a fare is not good for a taxi-driver or their potential customer
