If we can bail out the banks, I am sure that we can help local farmers who have been hit by freak weather. Little or no financial aid appears to be forthcoming from central administration for local farmers who have seen their crops almost destroyed by the recent heavy rains. Farmers provide a vital service to the island; without them we are pretty stuck. But their fate doesn't receive the attention from the government that it deserves. The island's agricultural heartlands have been in recession for decades. Farmers get little or no help from anyone, they just have to struggle through. But surely they have struggled enough?

And almonds from California !
The lemons in Eroski come from Venuzuela!
Well said Jason! And I'm very pleased to see you talking about Mallorcan issues in general (other than just tourism). Keep it up!
I totally agree your comment on the urgent need to support farmers and their produce purchasing. I have constantly asked for Mallorcaen produce at Hotels and Restaurants etc. But there appears to be a major problem with the supply to those businesses. A major irrigation system is an urgent requirement for the main hot summer period. It should be part of the Tourist Tax revenue to improve the water requirements on the Island.
