We are living in complicated times and even this small island hasn’t managed to escape the onslaught of the coronavirus.

Ruth, worth a try, but I have been told by several doctors that it is an old wife’s tale and doesn’t work .Re current situation, the virus is the least of our problems. The economic fallout afterwards will be traumatic, and if government employees and public workers are seen to not suffering in the aftermath, the out of work and out of food workers will revolt, and it won’t be a peaceful one.
Take a few sips of warm water (not water with ice) every 15 min. If the virus gets into your mouth liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach where your stomach acid will kill the virus, otherwise it can enter your windpipe and get into the lungs causing pneumonia. Gargle with salt water.
It is ridiculous to compare wartime with the current situation. During wartime, people supported each other in the defence of their lives, homes and freedom. War was not contagious. Avoiding contact with others and observing hygiene advice could not have stopped the war. But those steps can help stop the virus spreading. Keep calm, yes. Carry on where possible but be very aware that we all have a part to play in helping to curb the spread of the current virus. .
