The champagne which was on ice for three months was finally opened this week as the first German tourists arrived in the Playa de Palma. There was a buzz around the island as the season was finally starting. I don’t want to ruin the party but yesterday morning (Wednesday) the once-buzzing resort of the Playa de Palma was like a ghost town.
In fact, I had to pinch myself to remember that we were in June rather than November.

Well worded Jason: Magalluf and even Playa de Palma, are still Ghost towns. I was in Cala d´Or on Monday.....deserted. It is scary. How this can be sustained, I have no idea. So many owners of bars, hotels and restaurants or tourism related businesses I know are desperate and feel abandoned by their governement, here and in Madrid. Aid is way too little and late. But the people in Madrid and in Palma governement house are glowing with pride that "they won the war on corona". Someone said to me: feels like we are back in WW1, with the giant battles where millions got slaughtered.....for nothing. Because the leaders said so.
