What a difference a day makes in politics. In the early 1970s Britain announced that it was withdrawing all its troops from East of Suez in a radical realignment of its interests. This week the British government reversed this policy and announced that British warships would be based in the Pacific and Indian Oceans again as part of the new Brexit-led Global Britain.

The Royal Navy is no longer just a fighting force it is now a key part in Britain’s global trade? Eh? What are they selling....marmite, speciality cheeses and jams? The last time the navy were on trade duties, they were ensuring that opium from India could be sold freely to Chinese opiate addicts. Two wars ensued! As with your bizarre championing of a new royal yacht to swan around drumming up “trade” the idea that the rest of the world gives a monkeys about the royal ensign mooring-up with a stock of duty free goods for sale is for the birds!
An excellent initiative putting the UK where we belong not in an EU backwater. In a couple of years the new Royal Yacht Britannia will be joining the Global Britain fleet and task force already in the South China Sea and pacific, all most impressive thank goodness we left the EU.
I can think of a good use for them in the English Channel and the Med at the moment, running a free re-patriation service for all non-europeans....
