Over 150 horses have been entered to take part in this weekend's Minorcan Horse Show in Es Mercadal. This is the fourth event held in the town and a total of 156 horses will take part in the show - 96 of which are examples of Minorcan breeds. This year will see the introduction of a number of new features and events, including a medieval horse show and jousting. The horse show will be held in the old military barracks in Es Mercadal, which have been recently handed over to the control of the local council by the military. But the fair will not solely feature horses. A traditional craft-fair and market is to be set up.
