Last month saw the number of British passengers flying in to Majorca rise by eight per cent, in comparison with April 1999. A total of 218'000 Britons flew into the island last month, but the markets was dominated by the Germans as 445'000 German passengers were registered using Palma airport, nearly 11 per cent more than in April 1999. However, the biggest rise has been in the number of Swiss tourists. Although the number of Swiss travelling to Majorca is still relatively low, 30 per cent more headed to the island last month than in April last year. Majorca is also back in fashion with the Dutch, a 27 per cent increase in passengers was reported by the airport authority yesterday. The French market, however, is down by just under five per cent.
