The seven-year-old British brother of five-year-old Kate W., who died on Monday after being involved in a traffic accident with her parents, died later on Monday night in a Mahon hospital. According to medical sources, Jimmy was admitted to intensive care on Monday and died as a result of the serious injuries suffered in the accident which the police say was caused by the wet roads after the heavy rain. Doctors at Virgen del Toro de Mahón hospital were all set to airlift the seven-year-old boy to Son Dureta hospital in Palma for emergency treatment, but the British boy slipped into a coma and died shortly after 11pm. The accident happened at 3pm on Monday afternoon at the Mahon-Calan Porter crossroads. According to the Guardia Civil investigating the accident, the rental car in which the British family was travelling was involved in a head-on collision with an on-coming vehicle. Apparently the impact was immense and all of the British family were injured. Both of the children's parents, the 33-year-old mother and 37-year-old father, who was driving the car, are still being treated in hospital in Mahon. Medical sources have said that neither of the parents are fighting for their lives, but the father is also being treated by psychologists for severe shock and is not expected to be discharged until the end of the week.
