Spain produced one of the most astonishing comebacks of all time to beat Yugoslavia 4-3 and reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2000 yesterday. Trailing 3-2 with just five minutes of injury time to go, Spain scored twice to pull the match out of the fire. Gaizka Mendieta slotted home from the penalty spot and then with just a minute left Alfonso fired home from 12 metres.
