Australia is gripped by what the leading media experts described as the equivalent of the “Diana tapes” with “unprecedented” interest in a one-hour exclusive television interview with Christopher Skase. On Sunday night the country is expected to come to a halt to watch FOXTEL's flagship programme Laws which, in a one-hour special, will feature “the man Australia listens to” John Laws interviewing Skase at his Port of Andratx home. Since Christopher Skase, who is still wanted for questioning in connection with 32 charges of fraud in Australia, succesfully fought off an attempt by the Australian authorities to extradite him in 1993, Skase has only ever given two newspaper interviews, both to the Bulletin and now, Skase, who every television channel has desperately tried to interview over the past seven years, has given the “definitive TV interview.”
