A British woman who was attacked last January by a ca de bestiar bull dog as she looked at the post outside her home which she shares with her Majorcan husband, is asking the courts to sentence the owner of the dog to serve a year in jail. Sheela Nogura suffered serious bites to her legs and injuries to other parts of her body in the attack which happened on the very day the couple had returned to Majorca from the UK, where they spend six months of the year. The dog has since been put down, but January's incident was not the first time the dog had attacked a human; in the past it apparently attacked the postman and used to be allowed to run free around the neighbour's garden. According to the victim's husband, the couple had been living in fear of the dog for some time and that a fence was put up around their property to keep the dog out. The dog had been reported to the police on a number of occasions, but according to Gabriel Moragues, no action had ever been taken. While Sheela Nogura has recovered from her wounds, she has apparently been psychologically scarred and refuses to return to the chalet and the scene of the vicious attack. The couple are living in rented accommodation in Pollensa.
