One of the ideas to solve the rising fuel problems for the agricultural sector was to introduce a new fuel class, professional fuel which would be supplied at a cheaper rate to farmers, but yesterday the Senate rejected the motion tabled by the Socialists, saying that other ways of putting the brakes on the fall in income for farmers are to be considered. Farmers in the Balearics who took part in the national protests against fuel prices made it clear when they agreed to end their industrial action, that if a satisfactory solution to the fuel crisis is not found, then they will be forced to return to taking action. The fishing and haulage sectors in the Balearics have also warned that unless progress is made by central government, that more demonstrations and industrial action will be carried out over the winter.
