The Andratx-based former Australian business tycoon, Christopher Skase, wanted for questioning in connection with the multi-million pound collapse of his business empire, is to undergo a high risk operation. Last November the Policlinica Miramar Internal Medicine department carried out a series of medical tests and diagnosed that Skase is suffering from stomach cancer, which is why he is to be operated on. Over the past few months the patient, who suffers from chronic emphysema, has complained from gastric pains and has lost five kilos while the condition of his respiratory system has got severely worse. A series of tests have confirmed that he has a stomach cancer and Skase will be operated on shortly. But because of Christopher Skase's medical history and his highly delicate condition, doctors at the Palma clinic consider the operation to be high risk.
