The summer package holiday price war is raging in the United Kingdom with high street travel agents trying to kick start sales for the summer season. Offers such as two-for-one and 50 percent for children being pumped out and the normal prices of summer package holidays are already being slashed in the first round of a price war. While the Balearics, which can expect to see a drop of ten percent in the number of British holidaymakers, for example, coming on holiday with Britain's leading tour operator Airtours this year, is still forecast to be the most popular summer destination again, the competition from the Eastern Mediterranean is starting to eat away at the Balearics' dominance of the market. Over the weekend offers such as two weeks self catering on the Greek island of Kos was being offered at under £300. The same offers in Majorca, even with a discount, is on the market for double.
