Tragedy struck again in Majorca on Sunday when a family excursion to a cave at Cabo Minorca in the north east of the island ended in horror when two brothers, Angel and Marc Gil, aged eight and thirteen, fell into the sea while exploring the Tancada Cave with their father Jordi. Early yesterday morning the body of eight-year-old Angel was recovered by rescue workers, but the search for his 13-year-old brother was called off because of poor visibility. The alarm was raised on Sunday afternoon when Jordi Gil telephoned his wife on his mobile to say that one of the sons had suffered an accident in the cave. But air sea rescue authorities found the father in the sea, where he apparently leapt after he spotted the body of one of his sons in the water amidst the strong waves crashing against the foot of the cliffs from where they were washed into the sea by a large wave. The father was spotted and plucked to safety at 9pm on Sunday night, suffering from hypothermia, slight injuries and severe shock.
