British writer Janet Macdonald is currently in Minorca researching information about Mahon harbour which is to be the topic of her next book. According to sources for the Minorcan Tourist Board, the book commissioned by a UK publishing house, will focus on the Royal Navy starting in 1756 and finishing with the death of Admiral Byng. The author secured the co-operation of the tourist board during the Word Travel Market in London last December. Macdonald is accompanied by photographer Ken Maxwell-Jones who will help illustrate the book. During her visit to the island the writer will be meeting a number of experts and historians who specialise in the period when the island was dominated by the British, including Colonel Francisco Fornals, Bruce Laurie, Richard Kane's biographer and James Maps.
