Majorca's roads have claimed yet another life and yet again the scene of yesterday's fatal accident was the Muro to Can Picafort road, which has been classified as a black spot by the Guardia Civil traffic department. Traffic police sources said yesterday that the accident happened just after nine o'clock when two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision. A 34-year-old man died and 40-year-old woman was seriously injured. Antonio Juan Perello had to be cut free by firemen from the twisted wreckage of the two vehicles, but died at the scene of the crash while firemen battled to pull him free and paramedics fought to keep him alive. Margartia N.F. suffered injuries to her head, although medical sources said last night that they were not critical. However the 40-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries to the rest of her body and she was being treated in casualty last night at Muro Hospital. Earlier this month the Guardia Civil traffic department published a map of the island's black spots and the Muro road was one of the most dangerous stretches of road on the island last year.
