At the end of last month, the new fleet of buses acquired by the EMT (Municipal Transport Company) was daubed with black hand prints. The Local Police have just submitted their report on the incident, in which they reach the conclusion that the grafitti were probably the work of bus company staff. One of the first steps taken has been to restrict access of private cars to the EMT precinct where the buses are parked. This is one of the recommendations from the police and private security specialists. The company provides free bus transport for company workers, and it is also discussing a special pick up service with the unions. In a communique, the management - currently involved in a bitter wage dispute with the unions said it had not planned special security measures, but the grafitti had brought about a change of mind.
