There will be a very royal flavour to this week's Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofía-Majórica sailing regatta after King Juan Carlos of Spain confirmed yesterday that he will be competing as skipper of the Bribón. The King and his crew, who last year won the Copa del Rey, were also yesterday established as one of the favourites to win the S.A.R. Princesa Sofía-Majórica which starts on Thursday at the Real Club Nautico in Palma. The King is the third member of the royal family to have confirmed his participation. The Duchess of Palma, the Infanta Cristina and the heir to the throne, Prince Felipe, are also going to be competing on board Azur de Puig and Sirius V respectively. With just a few days remaining until the regatta starts, a total of 64 Cruiser class yachts are enrolled to race and some of the crews to keep an eye on will be Camper; el Mallorca Yachting, with local Olympic star Pepote Ballester at the helm and el Vindio, skippered by Fernando Pombo, president of the Royal Spanish Yachting Federation.
