The rain brought chaos to the Majorcan roads and there were more accidents than usual as once again it was proved that the roads cannot cope with the combination of heavy traffic and rain. The Guardia Civil traffic department dealt with more than 30 accidents, and the ambulance services and fire brigade could barely cope with the demands on their services. The Valldemossa-Deia road proved to be one of the worst, with as many as 11 accidents. Police sources say that most of them involved cars skidding and leaving the road, and crashing into walls. Fifteen persons were attended by the ambulance services, including a fireman and a policeman.
