The environmental group GOB has asked the Balearic environment ministry not to authorise plans to set up a sculpture museum in the natural park of Mondragó (Santanyi). In a communique to the media, it points out that the objectives of a natural park are to preserve the existing natural and cultural values, and the landscape is one of the chief values of Mondragó. It has sufficient attractions and importance in its natural state and improvements should be based on getting rid of buildings and structures in the developed area, not introducing exotic elements into the landscape. The proposed Sculpture Park forms part of a project called Natural Territory for Art, and calls for the installation of more than 30 sculptures in the area, whose attractions range from a beach to woodland.
