Politicians and club owners in Ibiza have imposed speed limits along the island's main San Antoni road in order to increase safety along the stretch of road. Cars travelling between Amnesia and Privilege clubs will be restricted to a maximum of 50 kmph. The move comes after a number of young people died last year from wandering into the road or being hit while on the hard shoulder. A unique system of traffic lights called the green wavelength will be installed before the holiday season begins. The green lights will automatically change to red if cars exceed the speed limits. Club owners will be responsible for installing the lighting and to make sure clubbers are safely away from the road when waiting for buses or taxis. Last summer a young Welsh holidaymaker was knocked down and killed outside a club after seeing Boy George (pictured above) perform. He and a number of other pop stars and DJ's gave their full support to a campaign to improve road safety on the island.
