Mamacor Local Police yesterday mounted a search for 22-year-old Maria Sureda Gil who has not been heard from or seen since Thursday night when she called the police on her mobile asking for help. Apparently, on Thursday night at 8pm, Sant Llorence police received the call from the young woman who in turn alerted Manacor police station and a search was mounted along the road between Porto Cristo and Son Crespi, where her abandoned car was eventually found at 9pm by the police and the girl's parents. Her handbag was also recovered, but all the money and, driving licence and identification documents were missing. Yesterday all the police forces in the area were brought in to co-operate in the search which is slowly spreading across the island. It appears that she was last seen in the bar Sa Verga in Sant LLorenc at 7pm after finishing work at a shop in Sa Coma. It has also been revealed that she also called her family and a friend for help claiming she had been kidnapped. However, for the moment police are keeping an open mind as they continue with their investigation.
