“Kidnapped” woman asks judge to catch her abductors

The 23-year-old woman found on Saturday after having been reported missing on Thursday, after making a number of S.O.S calls to police and friends, yesterday asked the judge presiding over her case to find her kidnappers. María Sureda Gil, who was found 45 hours after going missing just 50 metres from her car, which has been located by police on the Thursday night, appeared before a Manacor judge yesterday. According to judicial sources close to the case, the 23-year-old appearing very tired and accompanied by a friend, made a number of “confusing” statements before the judge investigating the case. She eventually asked the judge to catch the three individuals who she claims kidnapped her. Detectives working on the case have sent a number of items for forensic examination by the Guardia Civil in Madrid while the forensic doctor in Manacor, Emilia Salas, is preparing a medical report to determine if Maria Gil suffers from any psychological disorders. The police and the Guardia Civil have still yet to confirm whether the 23-year-old was kidnapped or not. The 23-year-old had been out with friends to two bars in Sant Llorenc, near Manacor, on Thursday evening after finishing work. Hours later she called the duty officer at Sant Llorence police station calling for help, claiming she had been kidnapped. She also called a friend and apparently sent a number of S.O.S. text messages from her mobile. Earlier that evening she had told friends that she was being hounded by a Moroccan armed with a knife. The investigation continues.
