Deputy Mayor José Manuel Sierra, and Pedro Alvarez, the Chairman of the EMT (municipal transport company) yesterday presented the new rubber borders which the council plans to use along the Avenidas, to mark the bus only lane. From today, the stretch of the Avenida Alexandre Rosselló from the junction with Calle Costa i Llobera to the junction with Gilabert de Centelles will have a rubber border to separate the bus only lane from the rest of the road. The original intention had been to install it along the full length of the Avenidas. It has caused controversy in other Spanish cities where it has been installed, including Valencia and Madrid. Sierra said that the experience of other cities had been studied before reaching a decision to use a rubber border.
