The Guardia Civil have seized three kilos of cocaine and have arrested three persons, a German and two Colombians, in an operation which has broken up an international gang. A Guardia Civil spokesman yesterday named the suspects as G U, aged 58, of Germany, and J C L C, 32, and J E O, 67, of Colombia. Investigations began last February, when the Guardia Civil discovered that a group of Colombians, some of whom were living in Majorca, were organising a network to introduce cocaine to the island from their home country. The chief suspect was a Colombian who had been living and working in Palma for two years, and he was put under surveillance. Guardia Civil sources say that the suspect contacted a German living in Greece, who was the person who travelled to Colombia to buy the drug and bring it to the island. It was also discovered that the second Colombian, considered one of the top men in the organisation, was planning to visit the island, to study the market possibilities, and control the arrival of the drug, the sources said.
