A homeless man died and two others were seriously injured in a fire in an abandoned warehouse in Palma's Calle Joan Munar, where they were spending the night. The building is close to the Inca rail tracks, at the junction of Calles Balmes and Eusebio Estada. The fire brigade received a call shortly before midnight, reporting the fire and the fact that tramps who regularly spent the night there could be trapped. The firemen had to force open the door to gain entry and the thick smoke inside the building made their task more difficult. But they eventually found three men, two of whom were still conscious although the third appeared to be dead. They were all three given first aid in the street, but nothing could be done to save the youngest of the three, known as David and aged about 30.
