The Balearic ministry of the environment has decided to increase subsidies for installing renewable energy and energy savings by 50 million pesetas, bringing the funding available up to 158 million pesetas. The period for requesting subsidies ended on March 31, and 828 requests were received, double the number of the previous year. The total value of the projects in question is nearly 2'000 million pesetas. Preference is given to solar and wind energy and insulation in new buildings when it comes to deciding who should benefit.
