This morning the Minorca Hotel Association, Ashome, will launch a campaign instructing hotel staff on how to cope and what to do in the event of an emergency. A series of talks and seminars are to be given at key hotels around the island and a special emergency simulation truck will tour Minorca giving hotel staff practical demonstrations. A spokesperson for the Hotel Association explained yesterday that the campaign has been launched in order to ensure that each hotel has a key number of staff aware of the basic emergency steps to be carried out in the event of a fire or any other incident. The campaign is being carried out in accordance with the Accidents at Work Prevention law and has been organised with the full co-operation of the Council of Minorca, the local health and safety department and the security services. The initiative has been praised by the island's tourist industry and a campaign is being planned for Majorca.
